The platform simplifies workflows by automating administrative tasks and providing powerful controls that prevent misuse and overspending. Users can set custom rules and receive insights into spending patterns, allowing for better financial decision-making.
By addressing risks associated with fuel card abuse and manual processes, Coast offers a $25,000 fuel fraud guarantee and robust security measures. This proactive approach helps businesses protect their assets while maximizing savings.
Coast: $4/active user/month
Consider switching to WEX: WEX offers a similar fuel card solution with extensive partnerships but may lack some of Coast's advanced fraud protection features.
Coast charges $4 per active user per month. An active user is anyone with one or more completed transactions in a billing period. If a driver doesn't use their card in a given month, you are not charged for that user. There are no per-gallon admin fees, per-transaction fees, electronic payment fees, reporting fees, portal access fees, or inactive card fees. Card production and standard shipping are free. Late payment incurs a fee of $35 or 2.5% of the past-due amount, whichever is greater.
Every gallon earns a 1 cent per gallon rebate applied to your statement regardless of where you fuel up. At 30,000+ partner stations (Exxon, Mobil, 7-Eleven, Circle K, Casey's, Shell, Speedway, RaceTrac, Maverik, and others) you earn an additional 3-9 cents per gallon. Non-gas-station purchases earn 1% cashback. There are no volume tiers, no minimum spend requirements, and no expiration on rebate rates.
Coast cards are locked by default and require mobile verification before each use, replacing traditional PINs. When integrated with telematics providers (Samsara, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Azuga), Coast verifies that the vehicle is physically at the fueling station using GPS data and cross-references gallons purchased against tank capacity. Administrators receive instant alerts for suspicious transactions and can lock any card with one click from the portal. Coast guarantees up to $25,000 per year in fuel fraud coverage when advanced security features are enabled.
No. Coast does not require a personal guarantee from business owners, and applying does not affect your personal credit score. The application is submitted online and can be approved in minutes for straightforward cases. Coast may request supporting documents (bank statements, government ID, financial records) for some businesses, which can add a few business days to the process.
Coast integrates with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct. Transactions export with automatic categorization based on your existing chart of accounts, and receipt images can be attached. Coast also integrates with telematics (Samsara, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Azuga), fleet management (Fleetio, WhipAround), and field service management (BuildOps) platforms.
Traditional fleet cards like WEX, Comdata, and Fuelman restrict fuel purchases to in-network stations, use PINs that can be shared or stolen, and charge multiple hidden fees (per-gallon admin fees, reporting fees, portal fees). Coast cards are Visa-based and work at any station that accepts Visa. Coast replaces PINs with mobile verification and GPS-based fraud prevention. Pricing is a flat $4/active user/month with no per-transaction or per-gallon fees. The tradeoff is that WEX's larger negotiated network may offer deeper volume discounts for very large enterprise fleets.
Yes. Coast offers three card types: Fleet and Fuel Cards for fuel and fleet maintenance, Field Cards for field crews buying supplies and materials, and Corporate Cards for office and operational expenses. All are Visa-based and accepted anywhere Visa is used. Administrators control what each card can purchase through merchant category restrictions, dollar limits, and time-of-day rules. Non-gas-station purchases earn 1% cashback.
Coast is a charge card, not a revolving credit card. Your bill is due in full on its due date, which means you cannot carry a balance month to month. If payment is not received by the due date, a late fee of $35 or 2.5% of the past-due amount applies, whichever is greater. If the balance remains unpaid after 31 days, an additional fee of $35 or 5% of the overdue balance applies.
