Operational Overview

Revolut Business leverages cutting-edge technology to provide a robust financial platform that integrates banking, payments, and expense management into one seamless experience. With features like multi-currency accounts and real-time analytics, businesses can manage their finances efficiently and effectively.

The platform streamlines workflows by automating routine tasks such as invoicing, expense tracking, and reporting. This allows teams to focus on growth rather than getting bogged down in administrative tasks, enhancing productivity and collaboration across departments.

However, businesses must be aware of potential risks, including reliance on digital infrastructure and the need for compliance with financial regulations. Understanding these risks is crucial for businesses to mitigate them effectively while leveraging the benefits of a digital banking solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Revolut Business different from Revolut Pro?

Revolut Business is a separate platform for eligible businesses, with team cards, multi-user workflows and accounting connections. Revolut Pro is a separate account inside the personal Revolut app, aimed at freelancers and small solo ventures. Business capabilities such as custom approvals and the Business API require Grow or higher, while Expenses is separately charged. Eligibility depends on business structure and country, so a sole trader should not assume that both products are available.

Does FSCS protection cover my Revolut Business balance?

For a UK account held with Revolut Bank UK Ltd, eligible deposits are covered up to the £120,000 FSCS aggregate limit stated in the Business Terms. A limited company's eligible deposits are assessed separately from its owner's personal deposits; a sole trader's personal and business deposits with the bank are combined for this limit. Check your account entity and eligibility because this wording does not automatically cover Revolut Ltd e-money accounts or every additional product.

Can I deposit cash or cheques into Revolut Business?

No. Revolut Business does not accept cash or cheque deposits. Its help centre suggests asking a cheque payer to send a bank transfer instead, so businesses regularly receiving physical cash or cheques need another deposit arrangement.

How should I compare Revolut Business with Wise Business for international payments?

Compare the same currency pair, transfer route, amount and expected monthly volume, including subscription and setup costs. Revolut Business uses recurring plans with exchange and transfer allowances, followed by applicable overage and route-specific fees. Wise Business publishes a £50 setup fee for its full feature set and currency-dependent sending and conversion charges. Neither model establishes a universal cost winner; also compare the team controls and accounting workflows your business needs.

Why can Revolut Business charge for Expenses when team invitations are free?

Team access and Expenses are separate entitlements. Under the reviewed UK fee schedule, an Expenses user becomes active after submitting their first expense and remains active until access is removed. The charge is £8 per active team member per month, and anyone active during the preceding billing period can be billed. Simply submitting no new expenses does not remove that active status.

Does Revolut Business send expense receipts to Xero, or only bank transactions?

It supports both, but the bank feed and Expenses connection are distinct workflows. The bank feed exports completed transactions for the currency accounts enabled for syncing, while configured Expenses exports completed expense records and uploaded receipts as attachments. Revolut documents completed reimbursements as draft bills in Xero, so you should not assume every card expense creates a supplier bill. Expenses charges and applicable plan requirements still apply.

When can I withdraw customer card payments from Revolut Business?

Your merchant settlement schedule in the app determines when processed payments can be withdrawn; opening a Business account alone does not approve merchant acceptance. Revolut's acquiring agreement permits risk-based reserves and changes or suspensions to settlement and withdrawals. Treat advertised settlement timing as conditional and check the schedule and any reserve shown for your merchant account.

What should I do if Revolut Business restricts my account?

Check the information-request tile on the app's Home screen and submit the requested documents or an explanation there; some requests are visible only to the account owner. Revolut lists overdue information, unverified sources of funds and ongoing identity checks among possible reasons for restrictions, which can affect transfers, cards, merchant activity and exchange. Its help page states a 15-business-day information review but also says individual cases may have no estimated response time, so this is not a guaranteed account-restoration deadline.
